The area around Broadford is great for walking and information on suitable walks is provided in the house. The terrain varies greatly from shoreline to mountain so it is easy to do different types of walks during your stay.

The huge peak of Beinn na Caillich which is the start of the Red Cuillins rises just to the north of the village and gives a dramatic backdrop to the whole area. The ragged peaks of the Black Cuillins are only a few miles north for the more serious walkers and climbers.

Travelling to the south of Skye is the beautiful area of Sleat and the lovely village of Isle Orinsay. Further south is Armadale and the ferry to Mallaig.

Armadale Castle has beautiful gardens and is well worth a visit, here you can enjoy the unusual and luxuriant plants and enjoy pleasant strolls along the woodland trails.

Travelling to the west of Skye brings you to views of the flat tops of Macleods Tables and Dunvegan with its ancient castle and the seat of the Clan Macleod.

The small town of Portree is less than 30 miles north of Broadford and here you will find a variety of shops and eating places. Just before you reach Portree you will pass Aros exhibition and event centre where a variety of performances and exhibitions can make for an entertaining visit. A restaurant is also available here.

Travelling to the north of Skye will take you to the spectacularly scenic Quiraing landscape with its brooding skyline and the Old Man of Storr.

There are regular boat trips from Kyleakin, Kyle of Lochalsh and Armadale all of which are within a few miles of Broadford. Here you can enjoy a pleasant spell on the water and learn a lot of the local sealife and environments.

Elgol is only a few miles from Broadford and from here you can get spectacular views across the sea to the Black Cuillins which are dramatic in all weathers. There is a small harbour and a café with some of the most beautiful views in Skye.

If you want to explore further afield the Skye Bridge makes it very easy to access the west coast of mainland Scotland.

Eilean Donan Castle is less than 15 miles from Broadford and well worth a visit. Plockton is also less than 15 miles away and is a real picture postcard village with its sheltered bay and palm trees lining the shore.
